emacs23-common-non-dfsg software package provides GNU Emacs shared, architecture independent, non-DFSG items, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install emacs23-common-non-dfsg
emacs23-common-non-dfsg is installed in your system.
Make ensure the emacs23-common-non-dfsg package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep emacs23-common-non-dfsg *
